The history of Foto Koch

The beginning of a photography story

in 1920, company founder Fritz Koch opened his business in Düsseldorf. Despite the severe destruction during the Second World War, he decided to rebuild his business. Even then, photography was not just a product for him, but a craft and a passion - a principle that still forms the basis of Foto Koch today.

From specialist retailer to modern photography

in 1955, under the management of Erich Görner, Foto Koch started the mail order business and continuously expanded its range. Later, hi-fi, video and finally online retail were added. The company always pursued one goal: to make photography accessible to everyone and to offer customers ever new possibilities without losing its values and personal advice.

Today, Foto Koch is more than just a specialist store: experienced photographers pass on their knowledge at the Foto Koch Academy.
