  • 1" Exmor RS CMOS 20MP
  • 4K 4:2:2 10bit XAVC and slow motion 120B/s
  • dual SDXC card slot, XLR, SDI, MI Shoe
  • Professional handheld camcorder with premium 4K image quality.

Ready for any shooting scenario, Sony's PXW-Z150 handheld professional camcorder delivers premium 4K image quality, slow motion at 120fps, HFR and Full HD, and advanced networking features for live streaming and wireless workflows.

Breakthrough Image Performance
The PXW-Z150 is the world's first professional camcorder with a 1.0" CMOS image sensor stack. This breakthrough in sensor design delivers twice the readout speed of a conventional 1.0" sensor. This enables breathtaking slow motion at 120fps in Full HD and spectacular 4K recording. Full pixel readout fully exploits the potential of the large 1.0" sensor. Pixel binning, line skipping and the resulting moiré patterns are a thing of the past.

The large 1.0" sensor is also brighter, has higher resolution, and offers more bokeh with shallow depth of field, so you can capture beautiful cinema-style images that will inspire you and delight your customers.

Stunning 4K image capture
The PXW-Z150 marks the dawn of a new era in this price range: It achieves 4K QFHD (3,840 x 2,160) with the advanced XAVC Long GOP codec at 100 Mbps for broadcast-quality 4K performance.

To further maximize image quality, the PXW-Z150 features a premium 12x zoom lens that delivers high resolution and contrast across the entire frame. Sony's advanced "Clear Image Zoom" doubles the zoom ratio to 18x when shooting in 4K QFHD and to 24x in HD to take full advantage of the potential of the PXW-Z150's large 1.0" sensor stack.

Professional features without compromise
The PXW-Z150 sets a new standard for handheld camcorders. You can use this model confidently in any application. The focus here is on continuous high-frame-rate recording at up to 120fps in Full HD quality, enabling beautiful fivefold slow motion. With 4K XAVC Long GOP at 100 Mbps, the camcorder achieves premium 4K image performance, and integration with established broadcast workflows is supported with Full HD recording in XAVC Long GOP (4:2:2/10 bit 50 Mbps) and MPEG-2 HD (50 Mbps/35 Mbps). You can even use AVCHD to further expand workflow flexibility. No matter how you want to shoot, the PXW-Z150 makes it possible.

The perfect handheld camcorder
The PXW-Z150 not only boasts a compact, lightweight design, but also advanced features that eliminate the need for bulky accessories. The built-in four-stop ND filter saves you from having to carry a box of filters, and the MI accessory shoe lets you connect a microphone or even a light without any cables. Advanced networking features include built-in Wi-Fi for live streaming and wireless FTP connectivity*. This provides a significant improvement in mobility and also means you can control the camcorder remotely from a smartphone or tablet. Every detail has been carefully considered, including battery efficiency, which delivers an impressive 400 minutes** of recording time.

* QoS unlocked with firmware update.
** With optional NP-F970 battery during XAVC recording in 1080/50i or 60i, at 50 Mbps with LCD on.

Revolutionary image performance with Exmor RS
To achieve image performance previously impossible for compact camcorders, Sony has developed the world's first 1.0" CMOS image sensor stack for professional video applications. Doubling the readout speed (compared to a conventional 1.0" sensor), it enables the capture of beautiful images in five-times slow motion at up to 120fps in Full HD, as well as high-resolution 4K recording with full pixel readout without binning.

The PXW-Z150's large 1.0", 20-megapixel single sensor delivers low noise and low blur as more light hits the sensor. This results in clear and stable images, even in a dark scene with a minimum light level of 1.7 lux**. The large sensor also delivers beautiful background blur (bokeh), allowing users to focus on what they want to show and blurring everything else into the background.

* 14.2 million effective pixels. ** LOW LUX mode

Flexible 4K and Full HD Recording
The PXW-Z150 is designed to achieve true broadcast quality in both 4K and Full HD productions. The top-notch 4K QFHD images and flexible workflows are largely due to the advanced XAVC Long GOP codec at 100 Mbps. XAVC Long's higher bit rate delivers exceptional images with more detail and less noise - simply the best 4K image quality in its class. For even more flexible workflows, the PXW-Z150 can be switched between PAL and NTSC.

Continuous slow motion at 120fps
With High Frame Rate mode, everyday actions become a slow-motion ballet. Here, the PXW-Z150 achieves up to 120 frames/s in Full HD, i.e. up to five times slow motion. No compromises have to be made in terms of bit depth, and there is no "windowing" effect of the sensor. So there is no cropping factor or loss in viewing angle to consider.

Sony G Lens with maximum 24x zoom
The high quality 29 - 348 mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom allows you to capture even the most extended landscape scenes in high sharpness. This maximizes the performance of the PXW-Z150's large 1.0" sensor, delivering high resolution and contrast from the center to the edge of the frame.

And with Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom, you can get up close to scenes in the distance. Once the maximum 12x optical zoom is reached, By Pixel Super Resolution technology can enlarge the image up to 18x in QFHD 4K or 24x in HD without lowering image quality.

Networked for high mobility
The PXW-Z150 has advanced networking features that let you go more mobile: File FTP files directly from the camcorder or stream an event live with built-in Wi-Fi capabilities - no accessories required. Sony's unique QoS technology* improves image sharpness over the wireless connection, so you get better images in the real world, given network limitations. You can also remotely control the PXW-Z150 from a smartphone or tablet, making settings such as focus, zoom, iris, start/stop recording and more via Sony's Content Browser Mobile** software.

* QoS enabled with firmware update.
** The Content Browser Mobile app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store.

High Resolution Sighting
The PXW-Z150 gives you precise sighting and low latency in all shooting scenarios with the advanced 0.39 OLED high contrast wide-angle viewfinder with 1,440K pixels and large eyepiece, as well as an easily adjustable 3.5 fold-out LCD with 1,550K pixels.

Compact and lightweight body
The PXW-Z150 features an ergonomic design with light weight and high usability. Three manual, independent lens rings allow smooth, natural adjustment of focus, zoom and iris control. The camcorder can also be used in full auto mode or fully manual for maximum creative control. The manual dial and buttons on the side of the body allow quick and easy adjustment of aperture, GAIN/ values, and shutter speed. White balance is easily adjusted by color temperature in convenient 100K increments.

Two media slots for more shooting flexibility
To further expand shooting times and workflow flexibility, the PXW-Z150 is equipped with two memory card slots compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards.

In "RELAY" mode, recording is automatically switched from the first to the second memory card when the first memory card is full, while in "SIMUL" mode, simultaneous recording to two memory cards (for example, to create an instant backup version) is possible.

MI Accessory Shoe (Multi Interface)
The PXW-Z150 uses Sony's flexible MI (Multi Interface) Shoe, which provides power, signal connections, and coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories. For example, you can connect Sony's wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D11 or UWP-D12, or the HVL-LBPC* light.

* All sold separately. The HVL-LBPC is controlled but not powered by the PXW-Z150.

Wide range of connectors, including 3G-SDI
Eliminates the need for adapters: The PXW-Z150 delivers a wide range of built-in connectivity options, including 3G-SDI, HDMI, multi/micro USB, professional XLR terminals for audio, REMOTE and composite (BNC). An included Sony cold shoe adapter set gives you more flexibility when mounting accessories.
